Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of financial literacy, financial planning, and self-efficacy on the future financial readiness of Generation Z and to evaluate the role of lifestyle and self-control as mediating variables. This study was motivated by the increasing consumptive behavior and low financial planning capacity of the younger generation amid the development of the digital economy. The study used a quantitative approach with an explanatory design, and data were obtained through an online questionnaire involving 95 Generation Z respondents aged 18-27 years. Data analysis was performed using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to identify direct and indirect relationships between variables. The results show that financial planning has a significant effect on future financial readiness, while financial literacy and self-efficacy do not have a significant effect. In addition, lifestyle and self-control are not proven to play a mediating role. These findings confirm that financial readiness is more influenced by systematic financial planning than by knowledge or self-confidence, thus requiring a more practical approach to financial education for the younger generation.
