Perubahan iklim dan suhu yang semakin tinggi di kota Semarang menyebabkan penurunan kenyamanan dan kesehatan mental karyawan di gedung perkantoran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi penerapan prinsip biophilic design sebagai pendekatan arsitektur yang mengintegrasikan elemen alam ke dalam ruang kerja modern. Penelitian menggunakan metode studi kasus pada dua gedung perkantoran di Semarang yang telah menerapkan biophilic design dengan tingkat yang berbeda. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi arsitektur, pengukuran kondisi fisik ruangan (suhu, kelembaban, pencahayaan alami), kuesioner (DASS-21 dan WHO-5 untuk kesehatan mental), serta wawancara mendalam dengan karyawan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa gedung dengan tingkat penerapan biophilic design yang tinggi memiliki tingkat stres dan kecemasan yang lebih rendah serta produktivitas karyawan yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan gedung dengan penerapan rendah. Elemen biophilic seperti pencahayaan alami, ventilasi silang, tanaman dalam ruangan, dan material alami terbukti efektif meningkatkan kenyamanan termal dan kesejahteraan psikologis di iklim tropis panas. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa biophilic design dapat menjadi strategi adaptasi iklim yang efektif pada arsitektur perkantoran di kota-kota tropis seperti Semarang. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi rekomendasi bagi arsitek, developer, dan pemangku kebijakan dalam mendesain ruang kerja yang lebih sehat dan produktif di masa depan.

Abstract
The increasing temperature due to climate change in Semarang has negatively affected the thermal comfort and mental health of office employees. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of biophilic design as an architectural approach that integrates natural elements into modern workspaces. The research employs a case study method on two office buildings in Semarang with different levels of biophilic design implementation. Data were collected through architectural observation, physical environmental measurements (temperature, humidity, and natural lighting), questionnaires (DASS-21 and WHO-5 for mental health assessment), and in-depth interviews with employees. The results indicate that the building with a high level of biophilic design implementation exhibited significantly lower levels of stress and anxiety, along with higher employee productivity compared to the building with lower implementation. Biophilic elements such as natural lighting, cross-ventilation, indoor plants, and natural materials proved effective in improving thermal comfort and psychological well-being in a hot tropical climate. This study concludes that biophilic design can serve as an effective climate adaptation strategy in office architecture in tropical cities like Semarang. The findings are expected to provide valuable recommendations for architects, developers, and policymakers in designing healthier and more productive work environments in the future.
