Abstract

Dyslexia is a specific learning disorder that affects reading, spelling, and text comprehension. Limited public understanding of dyslexia often leads to misconceptions and stigma toward individuals with dyslexia. In addition, educational content distributed through Instagram generally does not consider readability and accessibility, making it less suitable for users with dyslexia. This study aims to design a dyslexia-friendly Instagram educational infographic by applying the principles of readability, visual hierarchy, and inclusive design. A descriptive qualitative approach with the Design Thinking method was employed through the stages of Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. Data were collected through literature review, observation of existing educational media, and interviews with two psychologists and one individual with dyslexia. The results indicate that the use of sans serif typography, carousel-based information structure, relevant illustrations, appropriate colour contrast, and sufficient white space improve reading comfort and information comprehension. Validation conducted by visual communication design experts, subject matter experts, and target users categorized the infographic as Excellent, indicating that it is suitable for use as an educational medium about dyslexia on Instagram.
