Perancangan Buku Ilustrasi Edukatif Mengenai Depresi dan Ideasi Bunuh Diri Berdasarkan Lagu “Yoru Ni Kakeru” Yoasobi untuk Remaja dan Dewasa Muda

Abstract

Kesehatan mental, khususnya depresi dan ideasi bunuh diri, merupakan isu kritis yang memengaruhi jutaan remaja dan dewasa muda di Indonesia. Namun, minimnya edukasi dan tingginya stigma sosial menjadi hambatan utama dalam akses layanan kesehatan mental. Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang buku ilustrasi edukatif yang menginterpretasikan lagu “Yoru ni Kakeru” karya Yoasobi serta dua novel referensinya yaitu“Thanatos’ Temptation” dan “Melting into the Night” yang menjadi representasi visual yang akurat secara klinis mengenai Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) dan Suicidal Ideation (SI). Metode perancangan menggunakan The Design Method karya Eric Karjaluoto (2019) melalui empat tahap: Discovery, Planning, Creative, dan Application. Hasil perancangan berupa prototipe buku ilustrasi berjudul “STORY BEYOND THE NOTES” dengan 24 ilustrasi digital 2D bergaya semi realistik yang dipetakan berdasarkan tingkat fatalitas psikopatologi, didukung oleh palet warna berbasis psikologi warna dan layout dua halaman (kiri: ilustrasi, kanan: narasi). Validasi isi narasi kesehatan mental dilakukan melalui tinjauan ahli psikologi berdasarkan DSM-5 dan ICD-11. Perancangan ini menghasilkan buku ilustrasi yang berfungsi ganda sebagai media edukasi untuk mendekonstruksi stigma terhadap depresi dan suicidal ideation melalui pendekatan humanis, serta sebagai produk seni koleksi bagi penggemar Yoasobi dan pasar ilustrasi digital di Indonesia.

Abstract

Mental health, particularly depression and suicidal ideation, is a critical issue affecting millions of adolescents and young adults in Indonesia. However, the lack of education and high social stigma remain major barriers to accessing mental health services. This research aims to design an educational illustrated book that interprets the song “Yoru ni Kakeru” by Yoasobi and its two reference novels “Thanatos’ Temptation” and “Melting into the Night” into clinically accurate visual representations of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) and Suicidal Ideation (SI). The design method employs Eric Karjaluoto’s The Design Method (2019) through four stages: Discovery, Planning, Creative, and Application. The result is a prototype illustrated book titled “STORY BEYOND THE NOTES” featuring 24 2D digital illustrations in a semi-realistic style mapped according to psychopathological fatality levels, supported by a color palette based on color psychology and a two-page layout (left: illustration, right: narrative). Validation of mental health narrative content was conducted through expert review by a psychologist based on DSM-5 and ICD-11. This design produces an illustrated book that serves a dual function as an educational medium to deconstruct stigma against depression and suicidal ideation through a humanistic approach, as well as a collectible art product for Yoasobi fans and the digital illustration market in Indonesia.
